After the success of the first edition of the Internationale Welsh Grenz Schau in 2014, we decided we would take the show on the road switching between Germany and Holland. For this the Show needed a more international name, covering the area it would be held in. Internet brought ideas and as the area in which the show is being held used to be called „Hamaland“ in the middle ages, it became clear we had to do something with that name. This resulted in the new name“International Welsh Show Hamaland.

When we as friends and breeders of Welshponies decided to give it a go and organise a show in the border region between Holland and Germany, we never expected the success we had with the first edition. With 125 ponies entered and a staggering 180 starts on the day, the show grew to one of the biggest independent shows on the European Mainland in its first year. With entries coming from Germany, Belgium, Great Britain and Holland it truly became an international event.

For the 2016 version we received requests from all over Europe to receive a schedule and the way it looks like at the moment, more Countries will be added to the list, and numbers of entries will be even higher.

2017 already has entries from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Holland and it looks like we will have a true international edition of the show again.

At the International Welsh Show Hamaland we have, besides breeding classes in Hand for Welsh ponies of all sections and for Part-Breds, a number of performance classes both ridden and in harness. Also we encourage the showing of Geldings, Veterans and hold a special championship for the youngest members of the Welshpony world, a Mini Championship.
